About Tender Root

Hi! Welcome to Tender Root Lactation. My primary goal is to help & support you meet your breastfeeding goals, whatever they are.

I chose the name Tender Root because the word "tender" has such a rich meaning, especially for new mothers. "Tender" comes to middle English from the old French meaning "soft and delicate; easily injured," from earlier Latin roots meaning "to stretch, hold forth." In those early days (and years!) of matrescence (mother-becoming), both our bodies and our hearts can feel delicate, stretched out, and easily injured. I'm all about the model of care that acknowledges & supports you through this. You know your body & your baby best.

After the birth of my first I became passionate about breastfeeding, and after my incredible homebirth with my third I decided to pursue lactation support professionally. I have my certification as a lactation counselor through Childbirth International [*note: at this time I have finished all the work and am completing my student hours to submit to my trainer for the final certification. Feel free to contact me if you have concerns].

Whatever your struggles are, I’m here for you. I’ve faced many challenges in my own breastfeeding journey - difficulty latching, pumping nursing through pregnancy, oversupply, using formula, tandem feeding, mastitis, and tongue ties. I want my services to be accessible to all who need them. I do not take insurance, so all prices listed are cash pay, and I offer a sliding scale. Please reach out if you have any questions.
